1. Description

This project is conceived, analyzed and tested at Central Washington University. The manufacturing process works at the machine shop. Some parts will be worked on CNC machine. The cylinders and hoses are purchased personally. The material is provided by the machine operator.

2. Manufacturing Issues

During the time manufacturing project, it comes out many issues in the project, and get solved by discussing with Mr. Burvee and Mr. Bramble in winter quarter.

Cutting the square tube is a little off set from requirement. The requirement of the leg in the frame is 16 in. There are three legs cut perfectly 16 in, but one leg is 15. 9375 in which is 1/32 in off the tolerance. The leg will make the frame being unbalance on the top. To solve problem, Mr. Burvee will add a small piece of meter when he weld the pieces together.

Drilling the hole on the square tube brings a lot of issues. All the holes on the square tubes are off set from the requirement location, but it is not a big issue because the roller will attach to the square tube. Drill the hole is not at the right location, and it not appropriate in the manufacturing. However, the issue doesn’t affect all in the project. Checking back the manufacturing from taking the old picture, all the set up is right and got approved by Mr. Burvee.

Welding Issue:

The frame support was accidentally got a wrong location, 1" below. Mr. Burvee helped to fix the problem.
