1. Approach

The most purpose of the device is used for load and unload tools from CNC machines, and store and pick up CNC tools from a shelf to the machine. The requirement of design is that the users won’t bend their backs to lift up and carry the tool to the CNC table.

 

2. Design Description 

The frame is designed according to requirements.

  • Capacity: 170 lb.

  • Platform width: 20 in.

  • Platform length: 36in.

  • Sliding length: 16 in.

  • Lowered height: 16 in.

  • Raised height: 51 in.

  • Operation: Mechanic

  • Color: Black

The heaviest CNC machine tool is 170 lb. In the design, the dimension focuses on the heaviest tool because it is the largest and heaviest tool in the machine shop.

The platform width is 20 in and the platform length is 36 in because the diameter of the tool is 12 in and users can put some extra hand tools and space for notes and design sheets. The sliding platform is 16 in because the surface slides and reaches the edge of CNC table to 12 in. It is for safety feature and the table is not slipping based on the moment to make it rotate.

 

3. Performance Prediction 

The device predicts to work in 10 years with the room temperature condition. In addition, when its performances, the device is required two people working together to load and unload the CNC tool when it loads and unloads on devices.

 

4. Analysis 

When the device is designed and re-design in four times to be the best solution to fit in the hydraulic lifting cart. The re-design is coming from these reasons: how to take less weight on the cart, how to reduce the failing risks, how to take fewer materials from and reduce the cost of buying materials.

 

5. Tolerances

After checking Mott textbook, the tolerance of cutting square tube and flat bar is +/- 1/32 in, and the tolerance of drill hole on a square tube is +/- 0.005 in.
